Growing up, I always enjoyed being outdoors camping, fishing and hiking... but it wasn't until I turned 50 and picked up a DSLR camera for the first time that I fell in love with photography.
Being out in nature is a big part of why I do what I do, but I also love the many challenges that wildlife photography brings: learning to track animals and to move silently while out in the bush, capturing intimate moments without being intrusive, and to be able to capture images that tell a story and evoke feelings in the viewer.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to be a public school teacher in British Columbia for almost 20 years now, but as I approach the finish line in my teaching career, a whole new chapter of adventure is beginning to open up for me as a full time wildlife and nature photographer.
